PILGRIMAGE

The one city every traceur knows, the featured site of the most famous videos, the home of some of parkour’s most iconic obstacles, and the place where the founders and the art grew up together.

Our Mecca.

This will be a worldwide video project to show what Lisses means to traceurs across the world … how we travel there to connect ourselves with the beginnings of parkour, how we all go to train in these locations that have footprints and handprints from hundreds or thousands of people from all over the world.

The video may include a few flips here and there, but for the most part it will be a pure parkour production. My goal is approximately 45 minutes, combining footage from people around the world, from my own upcoming trip this summer, and (hopefully) from some interviews of traceurs living in Lisses. I'm already hard at work structuring the video and gathering music.

Thus far, I have gathered the following videos, and plan to use their footage in the final project:

Daniel Ilabaca – Trip to Lisses
GorillaManClan – Trip to Lisses
GravityKnight – Sejours en France
Kevin – Never Give Up
Le Parkour Louvain – Lisses
Les Voleurs – Lisses
Matttias - Lisses 2006
Max, Martin, & Ben – Trip to Lisses
Northern Parkour – Lisses
Parkour des Pieres
Portsmouth to Lisses
Russian Traceurs first trip to Lisses
Shintai – Lisses
Sin-Clan – Lisses 2005
Sin-Clan – Lisses 2006
South Project en Lisses
Surdi – Trip to Lisses
Team Chakal – Notre Sejour a Lisses
Team Traceur – March ‘06
Tigor – Lisses
TK17 – Lisses & Evry
Urban Move – October
Urban Move – a Lisses
Will – Lisses 2006

That’s 24 videos so far and counting (if your vid is on here and you DON’T want it included, please let me know). I’d love to get more participation, so if you know of any others, send them my way, and of course, if you’re going to Lisses in the future, don’t forget me! I’ll accept footage through the end of August, and I’m hoping to have the video completed by October 31st, 2007.

In addition to the parkour, and other clips such as night training, conditioning, and climbing the Dame du Lac, this video will focus on certain special aspects of the journey itself. Training and preparing before hand, the travel on planes, trains, buses, and foot, staying in the Formule 1 hotel, shopping and eating in France, meeting the people, seeing all the cats in Lisses. So “extra” footage, in the sense of more than just action, is absolutely welcome. Also, if anyone has videoed their thoughts or feelings about the trip, send them in, I’d love to include them. This will not just be a “bigger, better parkour vid.” It’s designed to mean something, to show the more serious, spiritual side of parkour, and to show our connectedness as a worldwide society. No matter who we are or where we live, we all eventually come to Lisses.

Finally, I'd like help in building a map of the locations in Lisses. This map is NOT for distribution, it's NOT going to turn into some "parkour guide to Lisses," it will NOT be printed out, put on the internet, or left lying around somewhere. It's just going to help me with making the video, making sure I hit as many locations as possible and can organize my thoughts and ideas. Anyone who can help, please let me know as soon as you can.

E-mail questions, comments, or footage to PKPilgrimage (at) gmail.com

Best of luck training, everyone,
-TK17

Weather's getting warmer, just thought I'd remind everybody ...

IF YOU'RE GOING TO LISSES, DON'T FORGET ME! I WANT YOUR FOOTAGE! IF YOUR FRIENDS ARE GOING, TELL THEM NOT TO FORGET ME! I WANT THEIR FOOTAGE!

Of everything. Random conversations. Funny stuff on the train/plane/bus/car. The hotel. Going shopping. Meeting Lissians. Training. Night training. All of it.

biggrin.gif Thanks.

Got to agree with the latest post.

I can't wait to see the final result, and I can't wait to go to Lisses, sometimes in my life.

Looking forward too it. Good luck.

Brief update ... I'm currently set to have the "rough draft" completed by March, ~70 minutes long.
I'll be taking it to Lisses in an attempt to get it approved by David Belle, although it's entirely possible
I won't get to see him in person at all as I'll only be there for one night. After that, as soon as I get
1) approval 2) notification of any changes he wants made or 3) ignored for long enough that I think he
doesn't care either way, I'll be setting up a bittorrent for people to download it.

And some more teaser media ...

Most of you guys remember the pic that went up a few months ago for the video Pilgrimage ...

Well, I just finished a section involving a lot of similar artwork and thought I'd post it up.
Really simple stuff, nothing fancy or spectacular, but I like the style, I like the way the images came out, and I thought I might share.
